Main application areas
The DC-550 packed column has been widely used in the following fields in the past due to its equal polarity and good selectivity:
Environmental analysis:
Polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs): One of the commonly used stationary phases for analyzing PCB mixtures in history, capable of separating multiple homologues.
Organochlorine pesticides: such as DDT, BHC, chlordane, dieldrin, etc. Its polarity is sufficient to separate these isomers.
Phthalates: A common plasticizer, with good separation effect on DC-550 column.
Petrochemical and Energy:
Aromatic hydrocarbon analysis: It has strong retention and good separation ability for benzene, toluene, xylene, ethylbenzene, and other high carbon aromatic hydrocarbons (BTEX).
Hydrocarbon composition analysis: used to separate mixtures of alkanes, cycloalkanes, and aromatics, as a medium polarity column to supplement non-polar columns (such as squalane) with information.
Food and spice analysis:
Spice Ingredients: Suitable for analyzing some moderately polar spices and flavor compounds.
Residual pollutants in food, such as pesticide and plasticizer residues mentioned earlier.
Drugs and fine chemicals:
Used for separating intermediates and active pharmaceutical ingredients with aromatic structures or moderate polarity.
DC-550填充柱是气相色谱发展史上一种经典的中等极性通用柱，特别在环境污染物（如PCBs、有机氯农药）和芳烃分析中曾扮演重要角色。
DC-550固定相的基本特性
化学名称： 甲基苯基硅油，通常苯基含量为25%或50%（DC-550通常是苯基含量较高的型号）。
极性： 中等极性。由于苯基的引入，其极性比纯粹的甲基硅油（如OV-1, SE-30）强，但比聚乙二醇（如PEG-20M）等极性固定相弱。
温度范围： 最高使用温度一般在225°C - 250°C左右，适合分析沸点适中的化合物。
特点： 热稳定性较好，对芳香族化合物、卤代烃、含杂原子化合物等有较好的选择性和保留能力。
