根据不同的生产工艺和使用需求，国内有机化工领域与甲醇相关的产品标准有GB/T 338-2011《工业用甲醇》、GB/T 23510-2009《车用燃料甲醇》和HG/T 4773-2014《羰基合成法制醋酸用甲醇》，均未设置纯度的检测项目，这些标准中主要采用沸点、沸程等物性指标，可以反映产品的纯度，但是这些指标不如纯度指标直观、有效，并且微量有机杂质的检测方法比较落后，不能满足目前下游高端领域新的检测需求和检测精密度、灵敏度的要求。
目前拟启动GB/T 338-2011《工业用甲醇》的修订，增加主含量指标，并提高对乙醇、羰基化合物等微量杂质指标的控制水平，急需配套相关的方法标准。
二是，适用我国国情，与煤制甲醇及甲醇制烯烃产业的发展相适应。
