易氧化和水解:对氧气和水分非常敏感。氧气的存在会高温下会快速降解PEG,导致柱效严重下降、基线噪音升高。水分会使其水解。
寿命相对较短:由于上述化学不稳定性,在常规使用下,其寿命通常不如像聚硅氧烷类的柱子长。

Main advantages:

Easy to oxidize and hydrolyze: very sensitive to oxygen and moisture. The presence of oxygen can rapidly degrade PEG at high temperatures, leading to a severe decrease in column efficiency and an increase in baseline noise. Moisture will cause it to hydrolyze.
Relatively short lifespan: Due to the chemical instability mentioned above, under normal use, its lifespan is usually not as long as columns like polydimethylsiloxane.
