Application: Determination of Picric Acid in Water Quality by Gas Chromatography
Haohan Chromatography (Shandong) Application Technology Development Co., Ltd. established a method for determining bitter acid in water using capillary column gas chromatography with a micro-electron capture detector, based on the standard "Water Quality - Determination of Bitter Acid by Capillary Column Gas Chromatography (Shimadzu)." The bitter acid in water samples was derivatized by sodium hypochlorite chlorination, extracted with n-hexane, and then analyzed by gas chromatography. The effects of extraction solvent and sodium hypochlorite dosage on the extraction were investigated. Under optimized extraction conditions, bitter acid exhibited good linearity within the range of 25 to 500 μg/L.
